What a Summer tutor does

Answer the questions students post on the platform, in your own words, so nobody gets stuck for a day on something you could clear in a minute.
Record short video walkthroughs of the chemistry and physics problems that trip Year 13 leavers up every summer.
Run one-on-one and small-group sessions that turn the scary topics into ordinary ones before HSFY starts.

Featured role: paid Summer tutor / mentor

Get paid to teach the next HSFY cohort this summer.

Online, 16 November 2026 to 28 February 2027. You teach the Year 13 leavers who are about to start HSFY, most of them without Year 13 chemistry or physics, on the Cutline Summer platform.

What you would do

Chemistry and physics foundations for students who have not done Year 13 chemistry or physics
Answering student questions on the platform
Video walkthroughs of the problems that trip people up
One-on-one sessions
Small-group mentoring sessions

Pay

Contracted work, not hourly employment.
Indicative NZ$20 to $40 per video walkthrough.
NZ$30 to $40 an hour for one-on-one sessions, negotiated.
Small-group session pay and question-answering time are agreed individually before contracting.
Pay and hours agreed before contracting.

What happens next

We read every application. If it looks like a fit we’ll book a short call, agree pay and hours, then contract and train you before you’re added to the Summer team.

Cohort ambassador

Be Cutline’s person in your cohort.

You’re sitting the papers right now, so you know exactly where people get stuck. The job has three parts: tell us each week what your cohort is finding hard, run a short Cutline study session or Q&A for your classmates a few times a semester, and pass on the bugs and bad questions you spot before anyone else does. Any rewards are tied to purchases that stay retained, and we disclose them to you and to your cohort up front.
