Casper is half of Auckland medicine.

From 2028 entry the University of Auckland ranks MBChB applicants on the MMI and Casper, 50 percent each, once they reach a GPA of 6.0. The UCAT no longer counts. Applications in 2027 are the first under these rules.

What Casper is

Everyday scenarios, not science

An open response situational judgement test run by Acuity Insights. You see a scenario, mostly not medical, and say what you would do and why. There is no syllabus to revise.

Typed and on video

Acuity's standard format is 11 scenarios: 4 answered on video, a minute per question, and 7 answered by typing, with 3.5 minutes for each pair of questions.

Ranked against everyone else

Each answer is scored by a different rater, and your score is set against the others who sat it. There is no pass mark, only where you land in the pool.
