The free official UCAT ANZ practice material, in order

Free UCAT official practice material is the best place to start for UCAT ANZ 2027, the test you sit in July 2027 for 2028 entry. The 2027 format isn't confirmed yet, but the current official materials teach you the test interface and the four subtests, and you don't pay a cent to try them.

Which UCAT official practice materials are free?

The Consortium's preparation page links a Preparation Plan, Tour Tutorial, Question Tutorials, Question Banks and Practice Tests. All of them are free. The Preparation Plan is a PDF on the official page, so open it yourself, and don't treat a week count from any prep provider as official advice. The Consortium says it doesn't endorse prep companies or work with them, and that includes Cutline.

The order below follows the official five-step path, with a practical reason for each stage. Treat it as the order to work through, without reading it as a timetable. A Year 13 and an HSFY student can use the same resources at different speeds.

How should I use the Tour Tutorial?

Open it before you do any timed questions. The real test runs on a Pearson computer and each subtest has its own clock. The Tour shows you navigation, the on-screen calculator, flagging and the review screen. Losing time on test day to a tool you could have practised is an easy mistake to avoid. Try moving between questions and coming back to a flagged one before you worry about any score.

You get the calculator in Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning. It opens in a separate window and stops responding when you click somewhere else. The official test tools page lists the keyboard shortcuts, including Alt + N for next question and Alt + C for the calculator. Its Chrome practice site has an exception for the Alt + F flag shortcut, so go with whatever the tutorial shows in your browser.

How do the UCAT question banks help?

Start with one subtest at a time. The current test has Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement. Abstract Reasoning was removed in 2025. Check the official format page again once UCAT ANZ releases the 2027 cycle, because there was no 2027 format statement on 14 October 2026.

Use a bank to find the decision that led you to each mistake. In Verbal Reasoning, you might be reading beyond the passage. In Decision Making, you might lose track of a condition. In Quantitative Reasoning, you might pick the wrong denominator. In Situational Judgement, you might miss the immediate safety issue. Write the cause down, then try a similar question a few days later.

The banks don't keep your progress. Keep your own short error log if you want to come back to weak question types. The official site links several banks for each subtest, but don't count on it storing a finished set for you. Our Verbal Reasoning and Decision Making guides give you ways to review errors, and the official answers stay the reference.

When should I use the free UCAT practice tests?

Save the full timed tests until you know the controls and the question styles. UCAT ANZ describes them as representative of the live test. The current page has four timed tests labelled A to D, plus versions with SEN timings and untimed versions. We counted those from the links on the page, and the count could change for 2027. Pick the version that matches your approved arrangements.

The official practice tests don't save your attempt or give you a score report. At the review screen you can see the correct answers and open Explain Answer. Spend as long on the review as you did on the timed run, because a finished mock you never review tells you very little about what to change. Use a desktop computer, since the official page recommends one for the practice material.

A sensible first pass is to learn the controls, do an untimed tutorial, move on to short timed sets, and leave full mocks for near your test. Our when to start UCAT prep post gives you a study rhythm. The 2027 guide keeps the cycle and the university requirements straight.

Keep your review log simple. After each set, note the question type, the reason you picked the wrong option and the rule you'll use next time. Come back to that type after a gap, and don't redo the same set straight away. You're training yourself to spot a decision you keep getting wrong while the clock is running. A raw count of correct answers can hide that pattern if one set happens to have more familiar questions than another.

Situational Judgement needs its own review. The official scoring gives full marks for a match and partial marks for a close answer, but it doesn't publish a UK-style band result. Use the official explanations to check the priority behind each response. On the pages we checked, the Consortium doesn't publish the exact response wording as searchable text, so learn it from the interactive tutorial itself.
