1. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission and supervision from a parent or guardian. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
Account Sharing
Accounts are intended for individual use only. Sharing login credentials with other individuals or groups is not permitted. We may suspend or restrict accounts that appear to be used by multiple users.
2. Service Description
Cutline provides educational study resources and tools, which may include worksheets, solutions, question banks, analytics, and spaced repetition/active recall features. We may update, improve, remove, or add features over time.
Service Development and Changes
The Service is an evolving educational platform. We may modify, improve, add, or remove features, content, or functionality over time.
This may include:
- adding or removing learning modules
- updating question banks
- modifying spaced repetition systems or analytics
- adjusting product features or platform design
We will take reasonable steps to notify users of significant changes where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after such changes indicates acceptance of the updated Service.
3. Access Tiers, Billing, and Renewal
We offer free and paid access tiers. Paid access may include recurring subscriptions and one-time purchases, as described at checkout.
- Payments are processed by Stripe (or our payment processors).
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before renewal.
- If you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your current paid billing period (unless otherwise stated at checkout).
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your account billing portal (where available) or by contacting us at [email protected].
Pricing, Taxes, and GST
Prices and plan details are shown at checkout. Prices may change from time to time, but changes will apply only to future billing periods (after notice, where required). If we are required to charge GST or other taxes, we will show this at checkout or on invoices/receipts as applicable.
4. Refunds, Cancellations, and Consumer Rights
4.1 Cancelling a subscription
You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time to stop future renewal charges. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated at checkout.
4.2 Change-of-mind refunds
Except where required under New Zealand consumer law (including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993), we do not provide refunds for change of mind. This includes (without limitation) purchasing a subscription and then deciding you no longer want it, forgetting to cancel before renewal, or not using the Service during a paid period.
4.3 Faulty / not-as-described service
If the Service is faulty, unavailable in a way that is not reasonable, or not provided as described (taking into account the nature of an online service), you may have rights under New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act. Where a remedy is required by law, we will provide an appropriate remedy (which may include a fix, credit, or refund depending on the circumstances).
4.4 One-time purchases
For one-time purchases that provide immediate access to digital content or features, refunds are generally not provided for change of mind. If you believe there was an error (e.g., duplicate charge) or the content is not accessible as purchased, contact us at [email protected] and we will investigate.
4.5 Chargebacks and payment disputes
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us before initiating a chargeback so we can try to resolve the issue. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in suspension or termination of access.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service. This includes attempting to bypass limits or controls, scraping or bulk extraction, sharing account access, reselling access, uploading harmful content, or using the platform for unlawful activity. We may limit or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe are being shared or abused.
Community Conduct
Users participating in the Cutline Discord community or other official channels must behave respectfully and comply with community guidelines. Harassment, spam, or disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the community or suspension of platform access.
6. Educational Content and No Guaranteed Outcomes
Content is provided for educational use only. We do not guarantee grades, admissions, exam outcomes, or any specific result. The Service is not affiliated with any university unless explicitly stated.
Educational Content Disclaimer
Cutline provides educational materials designed to assist students in studying course concepts and practising exam-style questions.
While we aim to provide accurate and helpful learning resources, educational content may include simplified explanations, variations of practice questions, or interpretations of academic material.
Users should rely on official course materials and instruction from their educational institution as the primary source of truth. Cutline materials are intended to supplement study and practice, not replace official course instruction.
Educational Guidance
Advice or study suggestions provided through Discord, email, or other communication channels are intended as general guidance only. These communications do not constitute personalised academic advising and should not replace official guidance from your educational institution.
7. Intellectual Property
All platform content, including worksheets, solutions, question banks, and learning materials, is owned by Cutline or its licensors and is protected by law. You receive a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to access and use content within the Service for your own study while you have valid access.
Academic Integrity and Content Protection
Cutline materials, including worksheets, questions, solutions, explanations, and learning tools, are provided for personal educational use only.
Users may not:
- reproduce, distribute, or publish platform content outside the Service
- upload or share Cutline content on public forums, group chats, file-sharing services, or other websites
- use automated tools, scraping software, or scripts to extract content from the platform
- create competing products or study resources using Cutline materials
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are reasonably suspected of distributing or reproducing Cutline content without permission.
8. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe these Terms are breached, the Service is being abused, or continued access may create risk to users or the Service. Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy issues.
9. Availability, Beta Features, and Updates
The Service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues. Some features may be labelled as beta and may contain bugs or change more frequently. We aim to keep the Service running reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer law that cannot be excluded.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make changes that are material (for example, changes affecting pricing, renewal, refunds, or key rights/obligations), we will take reasonable steps to notify you (such as via email or an in-app notice) before they take effect.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may stop using the Service and (if applicable) cancel your subscription before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Privacy
We collect and handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Please review it here: /privacy.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of New Zealand courts.
