UCAT UK
A guide to UCAT for UK medicine and dentistry applicants. Some applicants still search for it as UKCAT.
What the test covers
UCAT is a computer-based admissions test delivered at Pearson test centres in the UK and worldwide. [2]
Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning each score 300 to 900, giving a cognitive total of 900 to 2700. Situational Judgement is reported separately in Bands 1 to 4. There is no negative marking. [4]
You may sit UCAT only once in a year. You cannot sit both UCAT UK and UCAT ANZ in the same year. [3]
UCAT 2026 results apply to 2027 entry, or deferred entry in 2028. Results reach chosen UK universities in early November. [6]

Test fees and bursary
A test fee is payable when booking by major debit or credit card. The fee depends on whether you sit the test in the UK or outside it. The UCAT Bursary waives the test fee for eligible UK candidates and is applied automatically when booking. [3]
The 2026 bursary has closed. Details for 2027 are expected around March 2027. [3]
2026 score deciles
The final 2026 statistics cover 42,359 tests up to 24 September 2026. Some universities calculate percentiles from their own applicant pool. [5]
