How the score works
In the published 2026 format, Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning each score from 300 to 900. Their sum is the cognitive total, from 900 to 2,700. Situational Judgement is separate. There is no negative marking.
For HSFY and Graduate applicants, Otago Medicine used Verbal Reasoning at or above the 20th percentile and Situational Judgement at or above the 10th percentile as thresholds for 2027 entry. The 2026 national decile values are 550 and 486 respectively. Otago may use its own applicant percentiles, so the check above is a guide to that published rule, not an admissions decision. Questions students ask
Does the cognitive total include SJT?
No. Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning add to a total from 900 to 2,700. Situational Judgement has a separate scaled score.
Is this my exact percentile?
No. The published decile thresholds give a band. This tool does not estimate a percentile between two published thresholds.
Does Auckland use UCAT for 2028 entry?
No. Auckland has published that it will use Casper and its MMI for 2028 medicine entry, without UCAT.
