University of Tasmania: UCAT and entry requirements
| Uses UCAT ANZ | Required for standard medicine entry. [1] |
|---|---|
| How UCAT is used | ATAR ranks applicants first; the cognitive UCAT total breaks ties between equal ATARs. SJT is excluded. [1] |
| Interview | No interview for standard entry. The Aboriginal Entry Pathway has an interview with Medicine Admissions Committee representatives. [1][2] |
| Other selection requirements | Minimum ATAR 95, including rural adjustments. MM2 Year 12 applicants receive 4 extra points; MM3 to 7 applicants receive 5, with a maximum rural adjustment of 5. [1][3] |
| Pathways | Rural quota: 50% of domestic places from MM2 to 7, including 25% from MM3 to 7. At least 75% of domestic places go to Tasmanians. The Tasmanian Rural Training Stream prioritises offers by location tiers. Aboriginal Entry requires no UCAT, with Year 12 English and Chemistry or equivalent. [1][3][2] |
| Course and campuses | Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, H3X. Cradle Coast, Launceston and Hobart from 2026, with separate offers for each campus. [1] |
| 2027 entry dates | Domestic applications: 1 August to 11:59pm 30 September 2026 AEST. Apply directly to UTAS. [1] |
What this means for your UCAT prep
UTAS has no standard-entry interview, so focus on your school results and UCAT. Practise VR, DM and QR because their combined score breaks ties between equal ATARs.
