The UCAT Concession Scheme Australia fee was A$240 for the test sat in 2026 (for 2027 university entry), against the standard A$335. You qualified if you were named on a current Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and sat the test in Australia, and you had to apply by Monday 11 May 2026. UCAT ANZ 2027 is the sitting for 2028 entry, and its concession fee and dates haven't been published, so check the new cycle page before you budget.
Who qualified for the UCAT Concession Scheme in Australia?
For the 2026 test, you had to be named on a current Australian Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, both issued by Centrelink, either as the cardholder or as a listed dependant. A Medicare card, a transport concession card, a private health insurance card or a New Zealand Community Services Card didn't count. UCAT ANZ said "claims of financial hardship based on other criteria cannot be considered." The official concession page has the exact evidence rule.
Where you sit matters too. "The concession fee is not available to candidates sitting the test outside Australia." If you hold an eligible Australian card but plan to test in New Zealand, you'd pay the standard fee. I'm an Otago med student and Cutline is NZ-based, and this is one of the places where both countries share the test but not the fee relief.
Here are the 2026 charges for the test sat in 2026 for 2027 entry, all in Australian dollars.
| 2026 charge | Amount | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Standard test | A$335 | Australia or NZ |
| Concession test | A$240 | Approved, testing in Australia |
| Late booking | A$85 extra | Booked 16 to 29 May 2026 |
| Final late booking | A$185 extra | Booked 30 May to 5 June 2026 |

The voucher took money off the test fee and left late fees in place. The concession page told approved candidates to book by 15 May to pay A$240, and said the A$85 late fee applied after that. Book in the first late period with a voucher and you paid A$240 plus A$85, which is A$325. That's our arithmetic from the 2026 fees, and the 2027 fees could differ. The concession deadline also came before the late booking period started, so a concession application made in late May was already too late.
How did the 2026 concession application work?
You started by creating your own UCAT ANZ Pearson account, which gave you a UCAT ANZ ID. The concession form asked for that ID and a copy of both sides of your card, as a PDF, JPEG or PNG. If you were approved, a voucher code arrived by email in about three business days, and you typed it in at Pearson checkout under "Add a voucher or promo code". The voucher only worked for the person named on it.
Approval didn't book you a seat. You still had to make the booking and pay, and the booking page says you aren't booked until the confirmation shows up. Applications were turned down for the wrong card, an expired card, a candidate not named on the card, a name that didn't match the Pearson account, an unreadable file or a late form. Check all of that before you hit submit, then watch your inbox and junk folder. UCAT ANZ warns that iCloud and Yahoo addresses tend to send its emails to junk.
If you'd already paid the full 2026 fee, you could still apply by the concession deadline and then email Pearson for a partial refund once approved. That didn't move the deadline, and late fees were still non-refundable. The 2027 process could change, so read the official steps again before you rely on this.
When was the UCAT concession deadline?
For the 2026 test, concession applications opened on Monday 16 February 2026 and closed on Monday 11 May 2026, four days before the standard booking deadline of Friday 15 May. UCAT ANZ said late concession applications "will not be accepted after the concession application deadline under any circumstances". Access Arrangements had a different deadline, Friday 15 May 2026, and mixing the two up could cost you the concession.
UCAT ANZ 2027, the test for 2028 entry, had no published concession dates or fee when I checked. Last cycle's order of tasks is still a good guide: get your card evidence ready, apply for the voucher, wait for approval, then book. The 2027 dates page tracks test milestones as they're confirmed, and the Australia guide links booking to university applications.
What if I do not have an accepted Centrelink card?
Budget for the standard fee until UCAT ANZ says otherwise. For the 2026 test, low income without one of the two named cards didn't qualify, and there was no way to claim the concession back after a full-price booking unless you'd applied by the deadline. The official FAQ and concession page will tell you more than any unofficial eligibility quiz.
The test fee is only one cost. Admissions centre fees, travel and any prep you decide to pay for sit on top. UCAT ANZ gives you free official tutorials, question banks and practice tests, and our guide to the free material sets out an order to use them. The score calculator adds up current cognitive section scores so you can track progress.
What else do applicants ask?
Does a Medicare card qualify for the UCAT concession?
No. The 2026 scheme only accepted a current Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with your name on it.
Can I use the concession at a New Zealand test centre?
No. In 2026 the concession fee wasn't available to anyone sitting outside Australia.
Is the A$240 fee confirmed for UCAT ANZ 2027?
No. The 2027 fees (for 2028 entry) hadn't been published when I checked on 14 October 2026.
