Medify vs Cutline: UCAT ANZ 2027 prep compared

heads up first: this is Cutline's blog and we're comparing ourselves with Medify, so obviously we're not neutral πŸ™ƒ every Medify fact below comes from Medify's own website, checked on 2 November 2026, linked at the bottom. we also say where Medify beats us, because it does in a couple of places.

medify vs cutline: the short answer

Medify is the big one: a bank of 20,000+ questions, 25 full mocks and a subscription you can cancel, with one course for both UCAT UK and UCAT ANZ. Cutline is the smaller, ANZ-only one: nearly 1,000 questions on a screen like the real test, built around fixing the exact mistakes you keep making, priced in NZD and AUD with a free plan and a NZ$149 Season Pass. if you want the most questions possible, Medify. if you want to practise like the real test and get better at what you actually get wrong, for less, Cutline.

where Medify is genuinely ahead

being fair: Medify has a much bigger bank and five times the full mocks, it's been around since 2009, and its subscription also includes GAMSAT and interview courses. if you've already done a lot of practice and you just want more and more fresh questions, that volume is a real reason to pick it.

why the screen and the timing matter

UCAT ANZ is a speed test more than a knowledge test. Verbal Reasoning gives you 22 minutes for 44 questions, so about 30 seconds each, and a lot of marks go because the interface feels unfamiliar or you didn't notice you were slow. Cutline's practice screen copies the real one, same layout, timer, flag and navigator, so a timed set feels like test day:

Cutline UCAT ANZ practice screen with a Verbal Reasoning passage, four options, the timer and question 3 of 44

the part we care most about: your mistakes

this is where we're really different, so it gets its own bit. most people don't lose UCAT marks randomly. they lose them to the same few traps on repeat, like reading "some" as "all", picking Can't Tell when the passage does say it, or using the wrong base in a percentage question 😭 a giant bank doesn't fix that if you keep making the same move.

the Cutline Method goes: miss it, name it, fix it, retire it. the review tags each miss with one of 37 named traps, the trap goes onto your Train board, you drill it on new questions, and three clean, in-time dodges retire it. it also catches the sneaky ones, the questions you got right but way too slowly:

Cutline review screen: a 44 question grid, one marked correct but slow at 41 seconds against a 30 second target, with the explanation

so instead of "do another 500 questions", the next thing you do is the exact thing that's costing you marks. that's the whole idea tbh.

UK vs ANZ: does it matter?

a bit. Medify's help centre says its UCAT ANZ course is identical to its UK one, and ANZ buyers practise on the UK site. the official UK UCAT site says the two tests have the same content, so the questions themselves are fine for ANZ. the differences are around the test: UCAT ANZ scores Situational Judgement out of 900 rather than in bands, it has its own dates and fees in AUD, and the advice you need is about Otago and Australian med schools. Cutline is only for UCAT ANZ, so prices are in NZD and AUD, the score calculator uses the ANZ 2026 deciles, and there's a guide to each university that uses UCAT ANZ. more on this in our UCAT ANZ vs UK post.

price: what you'd actually pay

if you prep for three months, Medify's monthly plan is AU$195 at the prices shown on 2 November, or AU$415 for the year. Cutline's Season Pass is NZ$149 (or A$149) once and lasts until 31 August 2027, so it covers the whole UCAT 2027 season without renewing. or you can just use the free plan, no card needed.

  • βœ… free: 30 new questions a day, Full mock 1, three trainer rounds a day
  • βœ… Monthly: NZ$29 or A$29 a month after 7 days free, cancel anytime
  • βœ… Season Pass: NZ$149 or A$149 once, until 31 August 2027, 14 day full refund

so which one should you pick?

  • pick Medify if raw volume is the priority, you want 25 full mocks, or you also want their GAMSAT or interview courses in the same subscription.
  • pick Cutline if you're sitting UCAT ANZ in NZ or Australia and you want a screen like the real test, practice that goes straight at your weak spots, and one NZ$149 payment for the season (or free to start).

either way, start with the free official practice, and remember no prep company's mock score is an official UCAT score, ours included (here's why). we also compared Medify vs MedEntry and MedEntry vs Cutline. or try a free Cutline UCAT set, no card, and see if it clicks ✨
